How the WhatsApp online checker works
You link your own WhatsApp to ChatWatch the way WhatsApp Web links a device: enter your phone number and type the short code WhatsApp gives you, or scan a QR code. ChatWatch becomes a linked device on your account. From then on it listens for one thing only: the online and offline presence signal WhatsApp sends about the contacts you choose to track.
Every change is time-stamped and stored, so the online status you would normally have to sit and watch for becomes a searchable history. Nothing runs on the other person's phone, and there is nothing to install on yours: it all happens in the browser.

Track WhatsApp online status without an app

Is the WhatsApp online check free?
You can start free. Every plan begins with a 1-day free trial: log in with your WhatsApp number, add a card with funds for the plan, link WhatsApp, and watch a real online history build. Nothing is charged until the 24 hours end, and you can cancel at any time before that.
There is no permanently free tier that tracks unlimited numbers. Tools that promise one are usually either an APK with ads or a page that only checks whether a number exists on WhatsApp.
Online checker or number checker? Know which one you need
Many pages called "WhatsApp checker" answer a different question: is this phone number registered on WhatsApp at all? That is a one-time lookup, useful for cleaning a contact list, and it tells you nothing about activity.
ChatWatch is an online checker in the other sense. It assumes the number is on WhatsApp and tells you when that person is online, for how long, and how often, with a history you can scroll back through. If you want to know whether someone is active right now and what their pattern looks like, this is the tool. If you only want to validate a number, it is not.
What it does not do
ChatWatch never reads messages, calls, or media. Our connection to WhatsApp does not subscribe to message events and does not request chat history, so message content never reaches our servers. What you get is presence: online or offline, and when.
It also does not bypass anyone's privacy settings. If a contact has hidden their online status in WhatsApp, WhatsApp does not expose it to anyone, including ChatWatch. What ChatWatch adds is memory: it records what your account is allowed to see, around the clock, so you never have to be looking at the right moment.

Common questions about the online checker
Does ChatWatch contact the people I add?
- No. ChatWatch sends them nothing and installs nothing on their phone. It only records presence they already make visible to your account, which they control in their own privacy settings. Only track people who know and agree.
Can I check someone's WhatsApp online status by number only?
- Yes. You add a phone number, and ChatWatch tracks the presence WhatsApp shows your account for that number. You do not need an open chat with them.
Does it work if they hide their online status?
- No. If a contact has turned off online visibility in WhatsApp's privacy settings, WhatsApp does not share it with anyone, and ChatWatch cannot see it either.
How do I track WhatsApp online status for free?

- Not directly: no tool can read WhatsApp messages, and ChatWatch does not try. What it can do is compare two contacts' online activity with Chat Probability, which shows how often they are online at the same moments. That is a pattern, not proof.
